Official website of the Winfield Wolves and Winfield Wolverines!

The Winfield Wolves are the traveling baseball program of the Winfield In Action (WIA) Youth Sports Association.

This program is geared towards WIA players and Winfield Park District residents ages 10 to 14, who are seeking a higher level of competition and who are willing to make a substantial commitment to playing baseball.

The Wolves believe that the pursuit of excellence in the areas of academics and baseball helps develop maturity and self-confidence. We believe that the experiences a player has with the Wolves will be beneficial throughout his lifetime.  The focus of the Wolves is the development of the individual player. Our goal is to maximize the development of the individual through situations that challenges each player, a coaching staff that adheres to high standards, and first class facilities. The Wolves are resolute in dedicating its time and resources to the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of playing baseball.

Players are selected by a committee based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, performance level, commitment, ability, effort and attitude.  Tryouts for the Wolves program are held in early August for the upcoming season.  Wolves Travel Baseball has historically fielded full-time teams at the 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U age levels.  We strongly encourage grade appropriate play.  Age eligibility is determined by the player’s age on April 30th, of the playing season.

The mission of the Winfield Wolves Travel Baseball Program is to provide opportunities for the more competitive ballplayer.  Our travel program strives to provide a higher level of coaching and training that will assist in the development of the ballplayer.

The Wolves play an aggressive schedule (approx. 30-50 games), competing with other community traveling teams and in local and (possibly) out of state tournaments.  Teams train indoors throughout the fall and winter months, and practices continue throughout the season, which typically runs from April through the middle of July.

There is a registration fee charged to each player to help cover the costs associated with this program.  We are proud of the fact that we keep our registration costs low, due to the volunteer participation of parents and family members who help with fundraising efforts and concession duties.  Sponsors also play a very important role in assisting with our travel program.
